In the Catholic Church, the communion wafer is the body of Christ, humanity’s savior. Eating the wafer makes us part of that luminous body. When we are children and starting to learn about the rituals, we quickly are told that biting the wafer of a big taboo, it is forbidden. We must let if dissolve in our mouth in what is a holy moment but also a sensual one. The piece I present takes us to that moment of transgression, takes me to the difficult relationship I have with this church I grew up in. It evokes both the beauty of transcendence and the maybe irrevocable impossibility of it.
